The VP of Communications, Advocacy and Fund Development is responsible for creating an integrated advocacy, communications and fundraising platform for Eden. The position reports directly to the CEO, who is actively engaged at all levels in this effort and is a well-respected leader in affordable housing policy in California and nationally. The position will be responsible for working with other department heads, Eden’s Board of Directors, and field staff to implement events and activities that facilitate our objective to have a comprehensive advocacy and brand strategy. This position is being created to help create a sustainable, advocacy, communications, and fund-development platform for Eden that is integrated across our three major business lines – real estate development, property management, and resident services.

To date, Eden’s fund development efforts have been relatively limited to specific investors and foundations that are known to Eden. This position is expected to consider how this base might be expanded to include a wider network of corporate, foundation and individual donors. The position will oversee:
All of these functions require coordination across their specific functions including things like donor database management and integration of databases that complement each other. Eden currently uses Salseforce and MailChimp for the activities in communications, services program measurement, and volunteer program participant tracking.
Given the expansive geography of Eden’s work, it is expected that this position will involve some travel throughout the California regions Eden works in and other travel in and outside of California related to housing policy advocacy and participation in industry networks, including NeighborWorks, the Housing Partnership Network, and others. This position is also expected to periodically attend evening and early morning meetings.
This position will have direct reports, but the number is still to be determined.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have reliable transportation, a valid California Driver’s License and vehicle insurance.
Preferred qualifications include: real estate license and other specialized training such as Certified Property Manager (CPM), Low Income Housing Tax Credit and HUD Occupancy certifications.
