Summary

Eden Housing is seeking a Program Evaluation Intern to assist in special projects for the Resident Services Department. This entails collecting and analyzing external community data to produce deliverables (in the form of reports and dashboards), and other projects to assess Eden’s community impact.

 

** Three Month Timeline (What to Expect)

Month 1: By the end of the first month, the Evaluation Intern should be fully introduced to all platforms used throughout the Resident Services Department (e.g. Salesforce, Yardi Voyager). A project will also be assigned to the Evaluation Intern to complete before the end of their internship. Research on the community impact project should begin.

 

Month 2: During the Evaluation Intern’s second month, they should continue with on-going research, data collection, data cleanup, and produce an initial data analysis report. The Intern will also have a stronger understanding of how Resident Services operates within Eden Housing and at each of Eden’s properties.

 

Month 3: In the Evaluation Intern’s third and final month, they should be able to demonstrate proficiency in data analysis through the completion of their community impact project. Additionally, the Evaluation Intern will be comfortable running ad-hoc reports in either Salesforce or Yardi. The final reports and visual dashboards created by the Intern will be published and shared throughout the Resident Services Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Data collection, analysis, and visualization.
  • Assist with collecting and retrieving data from various data systems.
  • Assist with research and gathering data from outside sources.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting to senior executives on key impact metrics.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Intern must have current experience in ALL of the areas listed below:

 

  • Must be currently enrolled in an education program in economics, statistics or quantitative methods, public health or administration, international development, political science, or related field with at least three years completed college coursework, preferably four years (Graduate students are especially encouraged to apply)
  • Familiarity with data collection and evaluation methods, specifically programs management/reporting and performance measurement.
  • Ability to process and analyze data sets, and convey analyses with the most efficient and intuitive visual methods
  • Demonstrated experience producing charts, graphs and report writing
  • Strong passion and curiosity for data and data-driven decision making to solve business problems
  • Have excellent time management skills, be a self-starter and self-directed.
  • Strong computer skills, high proficiency in Word and Excel, abilities in statistical analysis software is preferred (Stata, SPSS, R)
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, schedule and meet deadlines

 

PREFERRED SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

  • Experience and/or knowledge of business, finance, and statistical concepts.
  • Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative data analysis in affordable housing resident services or related fields.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have reliable automobile transportation, a valid California Driver’s License, and automobile insurance.

 

LANGUAGE & MATH SKILLS

Ability to read and write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
