Our interns will be working in the Property Operations department of our company. This means they will work in our central corporate office, onsite at our properties, and in our leasing office. Though the environment at each location is different, overall the work is fairly fast paced and lends itself best to those who can work well independently. You will also get to work with the Facilities Department, Resident Services department, Compliance Department.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist the Director of Property Operations, Senior VP of Property Operations and Associate Directors of Property Operations with administrative tasks such as:


Document Preparation and Management

  • Helping to fill out necessary forms and paperwork.
  • Preparing insurance claim packets for submission.
  • Taking minutes at Operations meetings.
  • Maintaining and monitoring monthly variance reports.
  • Initiating and tracking vacancy reports.



  • Scheduling meetings for Operations staff.
  • Reminding Property Supervisors of upcoming deadlines.
  • Assisting with updating monthly trackers and Google Docs.


Resident Relations

  • Maintaining regular communication with residents by email and phone; keeping detailed notes for Supervisor follow up.
  • Monitoring resident complaints and providing updates to DPO.
  • Maintaining accurate written records of resident activity and concerns.


Budget Assistance

  • Budget analysis, tracking and monitoring.
  • Monitoring and tracking capital expenditures projects.
  • Providing up-to-date and accurate information to ADPOs.


Other related duties as assigned.




This position has no supervisory responsibilities.






  • Detail-oriented individual with proven organization and time management skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks on an ongoing basis;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers (Microsoft Windows, Office, Excel, & Internet Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat);
  • Able to communicate effectively with supervisor and fellow staff;
  • Professional attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently.



Valid California Driver’s License and insurance required.



  • Read and comprehend written instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and employees.
  • Add and subtract two-digit numbers
  • Multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is required to sit for long periods of time and frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
